I got lost in the time vortex. The Tardis brought me home.
Howdy @juniperfish, @blenkinsopthebrave and fishes ane and all!
25 Jan 2013 at 00:29 #1893
OK I accept the "Doctor fabricated the Lodgers Tardis" thought dorsum. I just actually skipped through the Lodger (I was working from a hazy ii year old retentiveness) and clearly I'k talking. Complete. Bobbins.
I'll stick to tea in future!
25 Jan 2013 at 00:46 #1897
@haveyoufedthefish
<I'll stick to tea in future>
I had an aunt who could drink 6 cups of tea betwixt breakfast and…well…forenoon tea. And she always spoke complete bobbins
Don't surrender on espressos just nonetheless.
Anyway, it may not take been the Doctor who built the Tardis in the upstairs flat, only your other espresso-enhanced thoughts were inspired.
27 January 2013 at 16:09 #1993
LOL @haveyoufedthefish – presume you're nonetheless on the come-down, just delight keep taking the espressos – dearest the theories! Especially
1) moff said DW volition be "all over the Idiot box". Best approximate is there will be easter eggs all through other BBC Goggle box programs, possibly specially anything historical or about history. They may exist subtle, they may actually be appearances of the doctor (searching for Clara?) in the background. Maybe every bit a whole, they add upwardly to a unproblematic narrative of their ain.
What a smashing idea 🙂
I think at the least, there'due south likely to be lots of little tardisodes, for web and Idiot box.
27 Jan 2013 at xvi:38 #1999
Neil Gaiman's 'dream story' for the 50th anniversary is an 11 Doctors story. Which I'm surprised near equally he's an imaginative bloke.
Accept loved his stuff always since he took over Miracle Man from Alan Moore and accept every effect of Sandman in the original comic format. From then on through American Gods etc his imagination has shone through, so an 11 Doctors story just seems so… unoriginal, for him.
But maybe the fanboy takes over from the rational or creative when thinking about the 50th, or… he'due south just playing with us.
27 January 2013 at 19:22 #2017
@scaryb – what got me thinking of the "all over TV" idea was Mark Bentons collection of pictures of the Dr. through contempo history (not that it made a lot of sense in the show, given the implication was that he'd only recently regenerated, and hadn't had a chance to appraise his new face up nevertheless).
Too didn't Harry Colina do something like this for months, with a certain cuddly toy actualization randomly in the background of other peoples alive Television receiver shows throughout each week? Matt is very nearly a cuddly toy, imho …
27 January 2013 at 19:34 #2019
@craig – I'm a professional cynic (merely my heart's not in it) and then I'd tend to think like a raston warrior robot, he's playing with u.s.a..
The more than that I hear that a full reunion is either not logistically possible (due east.g. because Chris doesn't want to do information technology, too old etc) or technically (considering computer graphics aren't there yet) the more I remember that's the T.V. equivalent of being told "oh we didn't accommodate a party for you lot this yr" all week, earlier … well if I told yous, information technology wouldn't exist a surprise now, would it? 😀
thirty January 2013 at 21:42 #2163
50th anniversay special AND "An Adventure in Fourth dimension and Space". Wow! Just I now realise that one will likely accept implications for the other. As I read about the cast for Gatiss'due south "An Adventure in Fourth dimension and Space" (Jessica Raine, Brian Cox, David Bradley, et al) I start to realise just how big it volition be for the fans. It volition be "a love letter to the fans" merely every bit the 50th has been promised to exist.
With that in mind, I think I will have (with cracking regret) to abandon my 4th wall theory for the plot of the 50th. It would compete too much with Gatiss"s AAITAS.
So, what am I left with for the 50th? Could it even so be Kennedy (with a return for Canton)? Well, maybe, but I had tied that to my fourth wall theory.
Omega? Lots of Doctors? No, I don't think so, considering I don't call back Moffat runs with the plotlines of other writers. I recall this will be pure Moffat. Which means…I have no idea!
30 January 2013 at 22:06 #2167
@blenkinsopthebrave I idea it might be fun if they combined the two in some sort of style, and had the Medico going back to 1963 and visiting the set up of a new Idiot box show that seemed to exist based on his ain life, starring someone that looks a lot like he used to. What stray creature has implanted his character in the creators' minds, in the virtually verbal item, and why was he now been brought dorsum to witness to it?
Simply I know what you mean. Information technology would seem like they had just tried to save on the budget and shoot two shows with the same actors, sets and costumes. Which wouldn't exist good.
There's definitely an idea there though. Star Trek gets a lot of references in NuWho. And then why non Who itself?
30 January 2013 at 22:07 #2169
As there is a prissy moving picture of Neil Gaiman'southward mug to a higher place here, I want to say that I hope the code to the TARDIS' one-time command room in The Doctor's Wife "cherry, eleven, delight petrichor", which our presently absent moderator @phaseshift did such a good chore de-coding way dorsum when ("the blood of the Doctor will bring new life and renewal") comes back and has continued significance.
It seems to me that it is ripe to, what with the decease and rising once again sacrificial God themes of Easter, and the situating of the Doctor'southward death effectually Easter last season and at present the upcoming significance of Easter (and eggs) this flavour.
thirty January 2013 at 22:37 #2175
I was also thinking well-nigh multiple Universes today, as you do. How everything that happens, every decision you brand creates new Universes. Stephen Hawking thinks it's truthful then who am I to contend?
I'm no physicist, but if Schrodinger'due south cat can be both alive and dead, and there are many universes or dimensions, so there can also be many incarnations of the aforementioned Doctor. Perhaps…
Would information technology be a cheat for him to meet upward with himself from "many-worlds"? Just imagine a youthful Hartnell, a female person Tom Baker (dear a daughter in a long scarf and nighttime, curly hair), an sometime Davison, a fatty Colin Baker :-D, and (as he's always wanted) a leather-jacket wearing Paul McGann.
thirty January 2013 at 22:51 #2177
Speaking of which, I actually, really love this "Fourth dimension Ladies" pic. I should probably moderate myself at present and put information technology in Fan Creativity, but information technology kinda fits with some of my last mail service.
http://rocketssurgery.tumblr.com/post/27237329389/time-ladies-aaw-yeaah-3In fact, what if he met with all-female person versions of himself? That would get round every issue Gaiman has in the vid above.
And so again, I may take had too much wine this night 😀
30 Jan 2013 at 23:08 #2185
@craig – oh no those are great! Maybe postal service in Fan Creativity too?
I particularly like her rendition of the tertiary and tenth Doctors, considering those drawings somehow capture the personality of Pertwee and Tennant'southward Doctors particularly well, in a sure mood anyhow (twinkly/ naughty for Three and a bit mardy for Ten) Ha ha – love it!
thirty January 2013 at 23:15 #2191
Anonymous @
@craig
I really similar these. They're really clever in the style that they've still managed to capture the essential grapheme of the diverse incarnations, every bit @juniperfish points out. Wouldn't information technology be fab if the Doc could encounter some of these ladies in the show?
thirty January 2013 at 23:23 #2199
@craig
They are really practiced – I'd echo @jimthefish and @juniperfish in saying double mail service to the fan thread. They do caputure the personality of the Doctor in a way. (It reminds me of those links I posted to female cosplay in that thread).
Great stuff.
thirty Jan 2013 at 23:33 #2203
@juniperfish @phaseshift (welcome back past the way) Will practise. For some reason I really similar eight. Information technology's the forlorn look. She really looks similar she feels she deserves more than one poor movie… much like McGann.
31 January 2013 at 00:10 #2211
@jimthefish Can you imagine The Telegraph readers' reaction to Doctors who've changed gender?
31 January 2013 at 02:39 #2215
The female Dr.'s are great. Cheers for the link @craig. I agree with @juniperfish re' the third and Tenth. For some reason the McGann version reminds me of Leela.
I like the idea of an alternative universe with a female Dr merely it might exist a fleck too Cherry-red Dwarf. Alternative time streams are all fun though. Fringe utilised this motif very well.
On the subject area of the Doco Drama I read that Jessica Raine is too playing a part in an upcoming episode of Who. It did not say which episode or which office. I like @craig's idea of the Doctor visiting the set of a Who TV series or something he does in 1963 providing the inspiration for that serial. This would allow for there to be two versions of Harnell, the actual Physician and the actor portraying him. I am kickoff to warm to @blenkinsopthebrave'southward forth wall theory, just equally he abandons it. Waves. Come back Blenkinsop, don't surrender on your large theory notwithstanding.
31 January 2013 at 02:48 #2217
How-do-you-do @janetteb. I wish the 4th wall theory would come through, in spite of my electric current reservations. Just not sure that Moffat volition do anything to diminish or cheapen the Gatiss AAITAS (or is it AAISAT?)
Jessica Raine is obviously playing Verity Lambert in AAISAT, rather than a grapheme in 1 of the episodes. (I think)
31 January 2013 at 02:51 #2219
Hold on. I just re-read your post, @janetteb. And so Jessica Raine is in both the Gatiss doco-drama AND an episode of 7.two?
OK, I tin can get-go to see how the fourth wall theory might have legs after all. Hmmm.
31 January 2013 at 03:07 #2223
Telephone call the Midwife actress Jessica Raine will play Verity Lambert; i of the first female person producers at the BBC. Raine will appear in Dr. Who herself later this year.
This is a quote of a quote with no info on the original source. It sounds as though Jessica volition be in either the anniversary special or the Christmas special if this info is correct. It certainly supports your 4th wall theory.Cheers
Janette
31 Jan 2013 at 12:thirteen #2229
@janetteb – no, Jessica Raine was interviewed in Radio Times final week (or maybe the calendar week before) and she is quite definitely in Dr. Who. She's already filmed it. She was talking about how dissimilar it is from Call The Midwife.
Not the same episode as David Warner, thankfully, or the fourth-wall theorists really would be going into orbit. :0)
31 Jan 2013 at 21:19 #2231
I really hope that the 11th Md isn't regenerated off either this series or in the 50th Special. It would experience too contrived.
As to the concept of all previous Doctors (male or female) turning up wouldn't that require the ability of the Timelords to achieve (right me if I am wrong just in the 3 and 5 didn't they take to adjust some super duper timey wimey stuff to make tthis happen?).
I retrieve that all the Doctors could exist together every bit they are all different incarnations of the same being but all 11 have the same Tardis so wouldn't she accept problems?
Besides whilst wandering up and down the garden path, having a cig and staring at the stars, an idle thought regarding Tardis'southward Tardiss' Tardisi is not the Masters own Tardis even so stuck somewhere in the Year 100 Trillion (or thereabouts) on Malcassario?
And now to jump to Serial vii Office 2 Speculation for another idea……..
iii Feb 2013 at 10:10 #2331
Information technology has been overnice, coming in and seeing the posts of belatedly, but there does seem to take been something of a lull in bonkers theorising. Some come up on! We tin't just sit down and look until November 23.
Now, I would, of course, throw my hat in the ring, merely it is evening over here in the colonies, and the vino was opened some time ago. Perhaps the theories might exist a little affected past this signal in the evening.
Just I know it is still Lord's day in the UK, and all sorts of fourth dimension zones in the other places Enthusiasts live. And I am sure yous can't all be under the influence however!
3 February 2013 at 11:twoscore #2335
@blenkinsopthebrave I idea my recent (totally ignored!!) theory of the concluding 50 years being all in the Doctor's head was adequately bonkers! (All the progs are similar us viewing his memories as they download into his head). He wakes up in the 50th having simply regenerated. OR It's Matt, comatose/unconscious, getting memories downloaded. He wakes up in the 50th. The exterior voices in a few episodes are exactly that – reality impinging on the Doctor'south blackout-like state.
3 February 2013 at 11:42 #2339
@blenkinsopthebrave – and @RobwhoDoesn'tLink'south fractured TARDIS(es) (either the Doc's or the principal's) is pretty out there 🙂
iv March 2013 at 09:17 #3033
Hello – very late to the political party again simply I've been a chip busy moving. Formerly of the region, as @bluesqueakpip said, "north of the Trent", I'grand now in the future, and quite a way Southward, somewhere in @blenkinsopthebrave territory.
I'g even so exploring these parts and I see this thread is pretty repose of belatedly. Yet….
My hope for the 50th is an 11 Doctors but with a twist – wondering if the BBC will retcon some former eps / parts of onetime eps and weave them into a Genesis of the Doctor blazon narrative. The former footage could exist cleaned up / colourised to make the transition a bit less jarring.
My original idea on this (Guardian mail) was that the Doc would have an enemy that he had encountered through all previous regenerations (only he didn't know it) but this comes to lite in the 50th. Maybe information technology's some kind of test for the Doc, orchestrated past as-nevertheless-unknown super villain. Tons of issues with this, not to the lowest degree being that the fans may not like a retcon of beloved stories.
I can't see them using original (or replacement) actors to fill the roles of previous Docs, and then this would be an homage to past incarnations without disrupting their characters.
All that said, Moffat probably has something completely off the wall on the page and he may only do a nod to the by, similar to the stop of The Eleventh Hr. Either way, I can't wait.
<will endeavour and mail more oftentimes, honest>
27 March 2013 at 00:40 #3603
With the ever increasing prospect of the sometime Drs not physically reprising their roles for the Nov ep/s, someone mentioned somewhere that they'd better bloody well be in the next Children in Need sketch. That'll be in November 2014 though…
Moffat has said the 50th anniversary ep will non be a fan-fest only that the past Drs will exist 'honoured'.
Too we have 'paintings' so perchance that's how the past Drs will be honoured – perhaps a 'Dorian Gray' inspired plot?
28 March 2013 at 16:11 #3631
29 March 2013 at 12:37 #3637
Hm… For the 25th anniversary we had Silvery Nemesis, but will nosotros go something golden for the 50th…?
If so, won't be pleasant for the cybermen!

The blessed Jessica is going to be in Who?
*faints*
3 April 2013 at 08:05 #4103
@wolfweed Thanks for the interview link in a higher place, really squeamish ane. Couple of things I picked up on –
facing the Crimson Horror in Victorian Yorkshire,
Crimson? As in Crimson, petrichor…??
And on companions – this own't gonna please the people who desire the Medico to exist central, simply information technology's interesting, and makes information technology very articulate where he's coming from –
It's the person to whom the story happens. A hero is somebody who saves the day, and who you lot stand back and admire, and that's the Doctor. But, for the story to have an emotional connection, information technology has to happen to somebody. The Doctor himself has to happen to somebody. And then, very often in Doc Who, the companion is the main character. Non the hero, not the i with all the cool lines and not the one with all the cool moments, but is the person who has this experience, and we go to run across how it changes them. Nosotros never see how the Md began his journey, nosotros'll probably never come across how he ends it, and we'll probably never know why he embarked on it, but we know all those companions, who they were before they met the Dr., why they ran away from him, and roughly where they ended up. Those stories are complete. The Doc is the enigma that enters their lives and changes them. The story is e'er near the person that changes the near, rather than necessarily existence most the person who affects those changes.

Ooh. Lots of nice spoilery images in that location. Thank-you.

Simply read in the Contained that Christopher Ecclestone turned down the offer of taking part in the anniversary special – don't imagine that comes as a surprise to anyone considering his well-known feelings well-nigh leaving.
T
6 April 2013 at 07:54 #4233
Hi @tiddler welcome aboard!
That'southward interesting because of what it says about Tennant'due south role. If they were interested in bringing back Ecclestone and then they must have wanted a 3 Doc story – and as far as I can retrieve there were no clones of 9.
It points towards Tennant really playing 10, rather than his semi-clone from the alternate reality.
6 April 2013 at 09:04 #4235
@craig Re Tennant – not necessarily, he could still play both. And knowing Moffatt he'll take had several possible story strands depending on who and what applied science (eg old footage) is available. Shame Ecclestone is pissed off. He deserves to savor the credit for being a key role of the reboot.
7 April 2013 at 17:42 #4473
I accept to say I wasn't surprised, merely still disappointed, by the annunciation.
At this time, let's spare a idea for ane of the nearly frustrated individuals in that business called "Show". Chris Ecclestone's agent. I mean – can you imagine:
2004
Amanuensis: "Chris – this is incredible. A fantastic renewal of a cultural icon. The proclamation of your casting and upkeep ways that this could be something huge. This could run and run…."Chris: "I've just announced I'thou leaving after one series"
Amanuensis: "Bugger"
2006
Agent: "Chris – your appearance in series 1 of Heroes. That was brilliant. Everyone loved you and your graphic symbol Claude. They desire you dorsum in the second series with an extended part."Chris: "Not doing it. I fancy theatre next"
Amanuensis: "Shit"
2013
Agent: "Chris, thanks for meeting Steve. There is and so much potential for you in this. There is a buzz. Allow'south get y'all out at that place, jubilant a cracking part y'all did… can you imagine the potential".Chris: "Told 'em I wasn't interested"……BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Agent puts down phone and weeps quietly over lost percentages.

@phaseshift — yes, he'south not the most straighforward of fellows, is he?
It's a shame he'south nevertheless non playing. At the very least they could accept stuck him in a light-green perspex pyramid for a day.
Although maybe information technology'due south all a bluff. Maybe he'll show up afterward all. (I'd personally like to see something like Giles'south render at the terminate of Flavor half dozen of Buffy … all is lost. Bang!! No, information technology isn't…. cue credits….)

Guys, Margaret Thatcher is all the same dead, and this is Trafalgar Square, this morn:

@pufferfish — she's not dead. She'south simply been sent back to sleep by the singing of children…
nine Apr 2013 at eleven:55 #4793
Um, folks – I'm probably 1 of the very few Guardian readers who can say this, but:
Margaret Thatcher to me was both the national figure and 'a prissy grown up who always remembered to enquire me how I was doing at school'.
I'm avoiding the Guardian at the moment because I know exactly what the reaction will be over there, and I'd truly appreciate it if we could stay off the discipline here.
9 Apr 2013 at 12:07 #4799
@bluesqueakpip – Agreed re not bringing too much of the dimension of Real Life over here (Tho I doubtable an MT debate with you could be fascinatingly intense!!) 🙂
ix April 2013 at 21:06 #4865
The filming at Trafalgar Foursquare showed the Physician hanging from the bottom of the TARDIS, with Clara inside. Has the TARDIS ever left the Medico before??
11 April 2013 at 00:09 #5057
Leaving my reservations regarding the news re: Tenant and Piper appearing in the 50th aside (@bluesqueakpip comes up with a good reason for all the publicity upstream), I wonder if they will only play the chatacters that appear in the alt universe ie Tennant will be the one hearted Doc. Not sure how they'd leave of that dimension though. And so once more…
xi Apr 2013 at 00:47 #5059
Small Spoiler Alert
I hear that Smith has been signed up for 3 picture show length eps. Can anyone corroborate?
If true information technology has implications for the 50th show and would diminish the chance of a 50th regen.
11 April 2013 at 00:49 #5061
50th anniversary regen obv. Although with Moffat you never know.
11 April 2013 at 08:35 #5067
Anonymous @
@whohar — information technology that's true so I'd suspect that's the finish of there being a regular series. It seems these days the Beeb just wants to make plenty to keep the publicity/merchandising trail active but without the expense of a full-blown series.
Then I hope this isn't the case.
11 April 2013 at 09:31 #5081
@phaseshift – spluttered my coffee at your delineation of Chris and his agent, 🙂
@jimthefish we were talking about possible double Tardises, and I posted link to the Van Gogh warning painting. Further to that, merely remembered there was interview with Matt, early this year, when he said something about how he couldn't give anything abroad Simply there was something about paintings.
<Hmmmm, more than coffee required!>
